Five languages that have the most speakers in the world are Chinese Mandarin, Spanish, English, Bengali and Hindi. Russian and Portuguese are the next with approximately the same number of speakers, followed by Japanese and German, and Ukrainian is number twenty-six preceded by Polish and followed by Italian.

There are 6,703 living languages in the world today. However, 66% of the world population use only ca. 40 languages on the daily basis.
